Better Than A Gym!

Ballroom dancing just might be better than a gym.  In an Italian study, folks with cronic heart failure who waltzed for 21 minutes, three times a week, increased their cardio-circulatory fitness more than those in a group that used cycles and treadmills.  How great is that!    And a lot more fun.

Medical News

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, dancing stimulates the brain so much, it significantly reduces the risk of Alzheimer's.  WOW!

Never Forget a Name by Dancing

Never forget a name again by dancing:  Swing, foxtrot, hip-hop... it doesn't matter which type of dancing you choose, new research from Columbia University suggests it'll help build new cells in your brain's memory-recall center.  'Active people have higher levels of nerve growth factor, which are proteins that keep the brain growing.'  Why might pounding the dance floor work better than pounding the treadmill?  Because you move different parts of your body in  different directions and have to think to synchronize those moves to music, complex feats that stimulate activity in several regions of the brain.
